Rough & Tumble Pub

Owner Jen Barnes opened Ballard sports bar Rough & Tumble in the former home of Sawyer last week, giving fans of women’s sports an inclusive place to gather and watch their favorite teams without worrying about, say, a Sounders game preempting a showing of an OL Reign match — though the 18 screens here won’t exclude men’s teams like the Seahawks or the finals of the men’s World Cup. The classic pub fare from chef Tessa Roberts and the cocktails feature playful names like the Reignstorm burger and the Ice Bath, blending Uncle Nearest whiskey, Timber City ginger beer, lime, and mint. The 160-capacity venue also offers local wine, beer, and cider; pool tables; an all-ages section; and a covered and heated outdoor area.

兄弟姐妹踩踏和夢境Bar and Diner, Carnelian Bay is owner Paul Shanrock’s new neotropical sci-fi-themed bar operating on the covered patio of Dreamland in Fremont. The menu features 10 house cocktails like the Delicate Weapon, a blend of mezcal, absinthe, cantaloupe, and spiced pear, that — through blurbs on the menu — spin a narrative of a sci-fi world Shanrock started developing at Stampede. Bar snacks include loco moco, honey walnut torpedo shrimp, and green papaya salad.

Astra Hotel’s new rooftop bar, Altitude Sky Lounge, sits 16 stories above South Lake Union and offers sweeping views of the Downtown Seattle skyline and the Space Needle. Comfortable armchairs and fireplaces occupy a large open-air deck, but even the interior of the lounge offers stunning views, and the floor-to-ceiling windows open outward on sunny days to let the air in. The bar offers several beers on tap, wine and Champagne by the glass, and a cocktail menu with drinks like La Brujeria, made with Mezcal, lime, basil, blackberry, and ginger beer. The food menu features small bites like several sizes of charcuterie boards, a serving of marcona almonds and crispy chickpeas, and various dips like golden beet and dill and duck liver mousse.

Here Today Brewery & Kitchen

Here Today Brewery & Kitchen’s massive windows show off an airy, booth-filled space calling to mind malls of the ’90s and skate rinks of the ’70s with a Vaporwave aesthetic. It’s a unique new setting by the waterfront from co-owner Chris Elford, who also runs renowned bars like Rob Roy. Co-owner Mario Cortes plays with classics, brewing the likes of a “Mexi-saison” with corn and piloncillo sugar in honor of his Mexican roots. You’ll also find natural wines on draft and non-alcoholic cocktails like the tropical Lava Lagoon, featuring pineapple, galangal, and orange blossom, to which you can add alcohol if the spirit strikes. The food options are limited but thoughtful and often vegan, from fried mushrooms to a play on the Seattle dog with cream cheese and pickled onions both as a hot dog and as a burger.
