Old-school brewery Alameda isshutting down,Oregonianreports. The Fremont brewpub is the first to go, closing November 3, followed by the Southeast Portland production facility soon afterward. According to theOregonianstory, owner Matt Schumacher didn’t share why the brewery would close for “legal reasons.”

The brewpub recently started brunch service, earning a fewpositivereviewson Yelp; that being said, the restaurant’s rating hasrecentlydipped, often thanks to “maddeningly bad service,” in the words of user James C. Still, Alameda held a spot on Eater Portland’sbrewpub map in 2016, and got asomewhat positive shrugfrom Willamette Week in 2017.

Alameda opened in 1996, during the height of the United States’first craft brewing boom. In those 22 years, the brewery won four medals at the Great American Beer Festival for its Black Bear XX Stout, all between 2003 and 2008. No word yet on where the team is headed next.
