As the centerpiece of the decor, it enhances the sophisticated atmosphere, while adding an intimate feel. Whether enjoying breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, it’s always a luxurious experience.

Nestled inside downtown’s Le Mount Stephen boutique hotel (a former circa-1880s Victorian mansion), this all-day option offers an eclectic menu of traditional English cooking with nods to local Quebecois cuisine. The original wood walls and mouldings paired with leather banquettes and ornate chandeliers set an opulent scene, and while the fireplace is just for looks (it’s no longer actually functional), it still helps to set the mood.
Vieux-Port Steakhouse

This Old Montreal mainstay has been charming diners since 1969 with its romantic courtyard, its stone walls, original 200 year old beamed ceilings, and cozy fireplaces. The menu is traditional steakhouse, featuring oysters and other seafood to start followed by grilled fish plates, and of course several options for steak including rib steak, sirloin, and filet mignon. L’Autre Saison
Set in an 1897 Victorian mansion, this Downtown option has been delighting Montrealers with its French cuisine for over four decades. The whole space has a warm environment, but for the most intimate experience, book the private room; that’s where the fireplace is.
