Montreal’s Newest Expensive Foodstuff Is This $125 Wagyu Sandwich

Plus, Schwartz’s is jumping into the airline food game, and other restaurant news to know

GRIFFINTOWN —You may have heard aboutthe $100 dumpling(infused with cognac) andthe $800 salad with gold leaf and caviar, both sold semi-recently in Montreal establishments. Now, there’s a new expensive item in town for people with money to burn, as Notre-Dame West’sBoucherie Grinder(not to be confused with gay app Grindr) has introduced a $125 wagyu beef sandwich to its menu. It’s served in the style of a Japanesekatsu sando— breaded in panko breadcrumbs, fried, and sandwiched between two slices of milk bread with tonkatsu sauce. Relative to the aforementioned dumpling and salad, the wagyu sando seems like a slightly better way to spend an exorbitant sum of cash — it’s recommended to be shared between two and four people, too, mitigating the price tag. If you must, it’s available on Saturday evenings only. It’s not listed on the menu, but just ask.
