South Florida isn’t exactly known for its Korean barbecue offerings, but that all might change soon with the debut of New York City import Cote (3900 NE 2nd Ave.), opening to the public on Friday, February 12, in the Miami Design District.

But the most popular order at Cote is the butcher’s feast — which also has made its way to the Miami menu — and features a selection of chef’s choice of cuts along with different vegetables and kimchi, egg soufflé, two stews, rice, and soft serve for just $54 per person. For those who want to go more high-brow, a 10-course steak omakase is available for $165 per person.

Similar to Cote’s NYC outpost, the 100-plus seat dining room, designed by architecture studio MNDPC, will offer its popular interactive cooking experience on tableside smokeless grills, which are known for ventilating air 6.6 times more frequently per hour compared to a standard restaurant — a protocol added in to help prevent COVID-19 and other airborne viruses. The space boasts modern art pieces; an oval-shaped bar, and two private dining spaces: Simon’s Room and the PK Room, an ode to the developer T.V. Moore, who turned his pineapple farm in the 1920s into the Design District, where the restaurant resides.
