From world-class sushi to Taiwanese tasting menus, the restaurants on this list are still serving some of the best food in the city — in some cases pivoting in smart, creative ways to make their offerings takeout- and delivery-friendly. In lieu of the 38 Essential Los Angeles Restaurants list that is on pause during the coronavirus shutdown, here now are the 28 essential LA restaurants that are open for takeout and delivery.

A more substantial kaiseki runs $85 a person, though both offerings are a fraction of this special occasion restaurant’s normal sit-down prices.
