In lieu of the 38 Essential Los Angeles Restaurants list that is on pause during the coronavirus shutdown, here now are the 28 essential LA restaurants that are open for takeout and delivery.

Lum-Ka-Naad
Northridge Thai food hit Lum-Ka-Naad — one of the best Thai restaurants in a stacked city — remains open for a full array of a la carte dishes available for takeout and delivery.

Mizlala
This Valley restaurant continues to prepare its Middle Eastern-inflected fare for delivery and takeout —its famous Moroccan fried chicken and “World’s Best Greek Salad” are highlights. The smaller West Adams outpost has salads, pita sandwiches, and falafel plates as well.
Sushi Note
Valley omakase specialist Sushi Note is once again open, offering takeout for some of the area’s best nigiri.
Joy
Highland Park hit Joy, the sister restaurant to Silver Lake’s Pine & Crane, returned on May 20 for timed takeout and delivery service only. Expect the same a la carte Taiwanese menu as before, but now without the big crowds and long lines. Bonus points for doing takeout beer, wine, and sake as well.
Golden Deli Restaurant
After a month-long hiatus, Golden Deli is open for takeout and delivery on Grubhub. It’s hard to go wrong with the broken rice platters, pho, or blistered cha gio.
Ma'am Sir
Charles Olalia’s Silver Lake Filipino restaurant has takeout and delivery from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. with big shareable family meals, Filipino bento boxes (baon), and longganisa burgers.
Kali
Michelin-level food is back at Kali with staples like Flannery beef and black barley risotto on the new family-style menu.
Mian
This glorious noodle and dumpling destination from the founders of Chengdu Taste is open for takeout and delivery. The noodles come in spicy broths and sauces that span the range of Sichuan flavors.
Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant
Chef Tony Ho continues to serve some of the city’s most impressive Cantonese food — from fresh seafood to top-grade dim sum — for takeout and delivery.
Spoon By H
Yoonjin Hwang’s plucky Beverly Grove restaurant is serving a variety of dishes that change daily — from spicy pork dumplings in chile oil to rich chicken ramen. Thesensational Korean lunch box dosirakis only available on Mondays — call the restaurant directly to reserve one.
Tsubaki
Echo Park’s modern Japanese restaurant Tsubaki is serving餐為πck-upWednesday through Friday. Priced at $39 per person, each set comes with a choice of main dish, accompanying sides, and dessert.
Republique
Republique is La Brea’s most famous restaurant, housed in a gorgeous, sun-drenched building with its own culinary past. While diners can’t eat inside at the moment, the takeaway roast chicken meals and pastries from James Beard-nominated Margarita Manzke are solid reasons to swing by.
Howlin' Ray's
Vaunted Chinatown hot chicken shop Howlin’ Ray’s is back and on Postmates. Fans will find it difficult to land some hot chicken during prime meal hours, but keep trying because it’s worth the extra effort.
Langer's
Langer’s has always done a prodigious takeaway business, but now the place is cranking out even more #19 sandwiches and other Jewish deli staples thanks to curbside pick-up.
Park's BBQ
Koreatown’s finest barbecue restaurant still has its full menu available via takeout on Yelp and Ubereats, with daily specials like beef short rib soup and spicy black cod.
Pizzana
West Hollywood and Brentwood pizza restaurants Pizzana have been busy putting out some of the best wood-fired pies in town throughout the pandemic. Chef Daniele Uditi also prepares weekly sandwich specials like the Padrino stuffed with prosciutto, spicy sorpressata, pepperoncini, and provolone on plush ciabatta bread.

Kato Restaurant
West LA Taiwanese fine dining option Kato is serving some of its signature dishes in a new way, offering Michelin-level takeout at a reasonable per-person price.
Sonoratown
There may be no busier restaurant right now than Sonoratown, which has turned its tiny Downtown dining room into a speedy home for takeout tacos, burritos, and those all-important handmade flour tortillas.
Bavel
Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis are serving set menus throughTock. Priced at $49 per person, the Bavel at Home experience includes a slew of mezze, a main course, and dessert.
Gish Bac
One of LA’s best Oaxacan restaurants continues to serve the community with hearty favorites like barbacoa, tlayudas, and of course, mole from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with delivery available in central LA neighborhoods like Mid-City, Jefferson Park, and Pico Union.
Rossoblu
Rossoblu has managed to make it through the pandemic by selling a gorgeous rotating collection of dishes, available as a prepared meal with up to seven courses inside.
Bestia
Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis are offering a rustic Italian feast at home for $49 per person throughTock. On the menu are Bestia’s beloved meatballs, pastas, and more.

Arguably the most sought-after takeout meal of the past few months, N/Naka’s gorgeous bento boxes seem to sell out within minutes whenever reservations are posted on Tock. Loaded with sushi, tuna karaage, tamagoyaki, and more, it’s the ultimate Instagram flex for just $38 a person. A more substantial kaiseki runs $85 a person, though both offerings are a fraction of this special occasion restaurant’s normal sit-down prices.
Mariscos Jalisco
While there is no shortage of outstanding taco trucks in Los Angeles, Mariscos Jaliscos may very well be the most beloved thanks to Raul Ortega and his crispy shrimp tacos. The Boyle Heights truck is operating usual business hours.
Felix Trattoria
Evan Funke has adapted this ambitious Venice restaurant’s menu for a takeout system with pasta kits, pizza, and more at attainable price points. Even the famous foccacia is available for to-go at $7.

Dulan's Soul Food Kitchen
Crenshaw district soul food king Dulan’s has remained plenty busy during the pandemic, turning out near-endless plates of dishes like mac and cheese, peach cobbler, and more.
亞瑟J
Manhattan Beach’s popular steakhouse from chef David LeFevre prepares everything from grilled steaks and requisite sides to specials like a burger, steak frites, or shrimp spaghetti arrabiata. Raw steaks can be taken home to grill as well.
