The COVID-19 crisis will limit how D.C. celebrates Thanksgiving this year, keeping some residents from traveling and many gatherings small. With an assist from local restaurants, the classic lineup of turkey — or barbecue, or lobster — can be as comforting as ever. Takeout options are especially plentiful as more and more venues shift toward pickup and delivery.

Standbys like Clyde’s and Bidwell are smart plays for their traditional menus. Vegetarians can eat well at Equinox, Fare Well, and Seven Reasons. Here are 20 options for to-go and dine-in Thanksgiving meals around D.C. on Thursday, November 26. Note that the expected lineup of steakhouse chains and hotel restaurants will offer their typical holiday spreads, too.

A number of D.C. area restaurants have resumed dine-in service. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns. The Washington Post istrackingcoronavirus cases and deaths in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. More information can be found atcoronavirus.dc.gov. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
