This Bethesda restaurant serves a French dip with roasted prime rib on a French roll with mayonnaise for $22. It’s one of the most beloved French dips in town.
MGM Roast Beef
The French dip sandwich at this casual spot in Northeast D.C. is one of the area’s iconic sandwiches.
Jetties (Multiple locations)
The “Monomoy,” hot roast beef topped with provolone and served with jus on a toasted brioche roll, is this popular sandwich chain’s take on a French dip.

Rare Steakhouse and Tavern
The Tavern at Rare Steakhouse sells a $16 dry-aged “beef dip” that’s served au jus with fontina cheese and pickled jalapeno.
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House

The affiliated Del Frisco’s Grille nearby, which is more affordable, has a steak sandwich — served au jus and with creamy horseradish for $18 — that is essentially a French dip even if it isn’t labeled as one.
Founding Farmers (Multiple Locations)
Founding Farmers’ prime rib dip sandwich is available on the lunch and dinner menus at each of the chain’s local establishments. It’s priced at $19.50.
Old Ebbitt Grill
The French dip at this D.C. institution has a full lineup of toppings on the normally straightforward sandwich: roast beef, caramelized onions, provolone cheese and watercress all come on a baguette. Sister restaurant Clyde’s has a strong French dip as well.

Here’s an interesting spin on the sandwich: Nopa’s Singers Meat Trio Dip Sandwich has a mix of corned beef, roast beef, and turkey pastrami. Provolone and peppadew peppers add further accents, and it’s all served with a red wine mustard jus on the side ($16).
