If you're brave/loyal enough to venturetoward Wrigleyville during the World Series,be warned. Fans will need a plan or large cash reserves, as many bars are charging hefty cover charges for the chance to stand around and watch the Cubs' first World Series games since 1945. Bars like The Cubby Bear and John Barleycorn are charging hundreds of dollars just for admission. HVAC Pub has a package that includes bottles of champagne and Grey Goose vodka for an extra $1,000.

Oh, and they're already getting packed with Cubby Blue:

While many bars want to keep their loyal customers happy, they're presented with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make a tremendous amount of money over this baseball weekend. Take the curious case of divey Malört meccaNisei Lounge, which pledgedin this Facebook poston Thursday morning that they wouldn't charge a cover. Five hours later they changed their tune, coming upwith a plan to reserve spacefor their regulars while still profiting with a party package. They emailed their regulars, and if they RSVP, they'll get guaranteed admission, but only before 3:25 p.m. today. They'll do the same process for game 4 on Saturday:

It's the most important weekend in Nisei Lounge's 65 year history at 3439 North Sheffield. The phone calls and emails from people who've never been here before are flying in like Arrieta fastballs offering us all the money for "table reservations for dinner and drinks". But we believe it's important to spend this weekend with the fans who got us here, especially the hearty souls who kept coming thru those 2011-2014 seasons.

Nisei provides a cautionary tale, as bar owners can easily change their minds over cover charges. With that in mind, here's a list of Wrigleyville watering holes that aren't charging a cover. And be sure to tip generously. This weekend appears to be on par with New Year's Eve.
