It’s sometimes difficult to believe, but not everyone in Chicago is a sports fan. The sounds associated with games — the crack of a baseball bat, squeaky basketball shoes, and hockey players crashing into the boards — aren’t pleasing to everyone. Sometimes folks just want to escape, but it’s hard when bars are trying to lure customers with large TVs and stadium sound.

While many bars lose customers on NFL Sundays if they’re not showing football games, a few bar owners are proud to be against the grain. They hope to cater to a different customer, one who is looking to engage with other patrons through conversation.

看看下麵的酒吧,沒有電視。Eater Chicago isn’t responsible if one of these bar owners decide to install a television for a championship game, playoff run or Oscar watch party. Patrons might want to limit their smartphone use while at these bars so they’re not killing the no-screen vibe.
