TheWorld Cup, one of the most-anticipated sporting events in the world, comes around only once every four years. Chicago’s soccer enthusiasts are hyped for the 64 matches taking place in Russia between June 14 and July 15, even though the United States sadly didn’t qualify this time. But fans of the 32 countries that did qualify — as well as soccer and sports fans as a whole — can watch the matches and root for their teams at these 16 standout bars and restaurants which are offering specials, watch parties, and more for the matches which kickoff in the morning and early afternoon central time.

The German cultural center in Lincoln Square will host watch parties for all 2014 World Cup champion Germany matches, complete with beer and pretzels, for a $5 suggested donation. The party will continue after the German matches, as long as Germany wins,says its event page.

Soccer fans who aren’t fans of typical sports bars have a good option in Black Bull, the Spanish restaurant and bar on Wicker Park’s Division Street. It’ll open early to show all 1 p.m. games in the World Cup — both inside and on its new sidewalk patio — and serve $30 sangria porrons and $15 Estrella Galicia Summer Shandy porrons. Team Spain will obviously be the focus here.

The self-proclaimed “home of international soccer,” Cleos in Ukrainian Village will show every game on its many TVs. Look for daily food and drink specials, a large back patio, and soccer fans of all stripes.

Troquet River North

Troquet is a River North neighborhood French spot. It will cheer on France with $10 Troquet burgers and $4 Kronenbourg 1664s. They’ll be open at 4:45 a.m. on June 16 for the France/Australia match with an American breakfast (two eggs any style, choice of bacon, pork sausage or chicken sausage, choice of toast) for $10.
