After a slight makeover and menu change,Brasserie by LMopened today in theshort-livedTributespace inside the Essex Inn on Michigan Avenue. The roomwas taken overbyStephan and Nicole Outrequin Quaisser, who also own Lincoln Square'sLMand the newTroquetin Ravenswood.

The Outrequins more or less kept the virbrant, mod aesthetic originally done by Tribute, but did away with the lounge-like vibe by replacing couches with regular tables. The restaurant will seat 190 inside for breakfast, lunch and dinner and an additional 70 on a sprawling Michigan Avenue patio looking out on to Grant Park. However, the menu, created by formerPump Roomexec chefBrad Phillips, has moved away from American in favor of French inspiration.

Phillips' new menu for Brasserie by LM will offer a range of dishes throughout the day with very French familiarity. Look for theomelet de maison, savory crepes, pain au chocolate, onion soup gratinee, chicken liver mousse, Croque Monsiuer (or Madame if you add an egg), steak frites, mussels frites, chopped salad withchevre, duck confit, pork belly and more.
